| Carlsbad Caverns with Ryan Flyers - Aug 30-31, 2003 8/28/2003 | |

On Aug. 30, 2003 a bunch of wild and crazy (not really) Ryan Field Flyers launched
in several airplanes (some slow, some fast) to converge on Carlsbad, NM to visit
Carlsbad Caverns. We assembled on arrival around 11:00 AM at Cavern City airport.
After a quick lunch at Happy's, we went on to the Cavern.
We spent a wonderful afternoon underground
to a depth of 750 feet. The day was culminated with a viewing of the bats
(Mexican Free-tailed & a second species) exiting the cave at dusk. The flight back Sunday morning included an exciting search for a VFR hole up to VFR On Top. It was a smooth flight home. Sorry about the picture quality. Most of the shots in the cavern were hand-held, 1/2-second exposures at small f-stops. I am happy that anything came out. The photos are arranged chronologically.
